Recycle your hard plastics locally

hard plastics

You can now recycle hard plastics at your local Household waste recycling centres. If you’re having a spring clear out of the garage or loft, you can now bring hard plastics such as toys, buckets and garden furniture to be recycled.

All plastic placed in the skips must be RIGID. For example, broken toys, toilet seats, washing baskets, buckets and garden furniture can go into the skip but a plastic curtain rail cannot as it is flexible.

Only rigid plastic is accepted as during the recycling process the plastic is chipped down into small pieces and flexible plastic does not do this in the same way as rigid plastic. Unfortunately you cannot place the other types of plastic packaging that cannot be recycled kerbside into this skip (i.e butter tubs, plastic meat trays)

For more information about your nearest site, please visit the council webpages

Reuse your vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs!

We are working with a creative company called Vinyl Wall to reuse  old vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs (not VHs tapes).  Drop them off in the containers at Hazel Court.

For recycling of VHS video tapes, CDs and DVDs you can also try ems-europe.co.uk who will accept up to 100 tapes in their cases for recycling (they disassemble tapes and sell reconditioned tape back to the film industry).
